Customer Review: Red eye reduction? Yeah, right.....

I bought this camera based on Canon's good reputation and also the fact that it received good ratings from Consumer Reports. Though the camera takes good, sharp pictures outside in the daylight, the red eye reduction feature is completely worthless when using the flash. I have had the camera for four months and have taken several pictures with it, including ones from a recent vacation. I am disappointed in the way many of the pictures where I used the red eye reduction feature turned out. The camera itself is very easy to use and lightweight, however, I would not have chosen it if I knew in advance how poorly the red eye reduction works. I guess in the future, I will have to stick with 400 speed film and no flash in low light conditions.

The power zoom ratio, controlled by two oversized buttons, is located in the front for convenience and quick access. The built-in lens cap opens and closes automatically, allowing for simple user operation and making the Sure Shot 85 Zoom perfect for beginners.Its 38-85mm (2.2x) power zoom lens lets you select the composition that you want. The 38mm is great for wide-angle shots, group scenes, or landscapes, while 85mm is ideal for intimate portraits and close-ups. Or set it somewhere in between--this camera's zoom selection makes it easy to capture the moment. The ultrafast Real Time shutter setting is ideal for capturing sports or other action shots. Whatever the situation, Canon's three-point Autofocus produces sharp, dramatically vivid photos every time.
To help you remember special events, a date imprint feature is available. Five flash modes provide balanced and accurate lighting to your scene, whether you are inside or outdoors.
