Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon PowerShot SD950IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.7x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Titanium)Customer Review: Buyer Beware! Summary: 1 StarsBought this camera almost two years ago. Great camera, great features. Then, one day, while taking pictures, the LCD suddenly went black. No LCD means I can't use the features, can't review photos...nothing. I called Canon, but since the 1 year warranty is expired, there's nothing they will do. I trusted the Canon name. Paid a lot of money for the name because I thought I was getting good quality - this was not the case. I'm ticked off that I have to pay to repair a camera that's not even two years old. If you do your research, you'll see MANY reviews on this camera that refer to the same LCD problem. I wish I'd known before I spent hundreds of dollars. DON'T BUY THIS CAMERA!
Customer Review: A fine camera Summary: 5 StarsFirst, it's a premium point and shoot and it looks it. The titanium
exterior is awesome - strong but surprisingly it doesn't feel too heavy.
Good viewscreen, and the viewfinder is a plus on this size camera.
Ergonomically, it is a natural to hold and easy to shoot with one hand.
The camera has image stabilization and many setting choices that
can be used should you wish to do so. Or you can shoot "auto"
and your photos will be great, too! How do the photos look?
Very nice: clear, sharp, vibrant color.
Additionally, I was surprised how nice movies were, better than I expected
and better than movies shot with 'designed-for-still-shots' camera
I have seen in the past. Excellent camera.
Customer Review: Fantastic Point and Shoot Summary: 5 StarsI've had many, many, MANY different point and shoot digitals (since the days of Sony Mavica). This particular camera is by far my favorite. It takes fantastic shots (many easily as good as my digital SLR). Very quick recovery time between shots, which is a must-have feature for me. Easy to turn the flash off when needed (a feature I use quite often). Takes great pictures in low light. Sturdy-- I've dropped it a number of times, and it still turns on.
I highly recommend this camera. It's worth every penny I paid for it.
Customer Review: Camera review Summary: 5 Starscamera great, pictures have turned out nice, everything was new in box and working just as described
Customer Review: Liked the camera but stopped dead after 15 months Summary: 3 StarsWe got a good amount of use out of this camera but were disappointed when the camera stopped functioning on a recent outing, 15 months after purchase (and 3 months out of warranty). At first we thought it might be a dead battery but after changing batteries the lens will not open and the camera won't power up. Have had good success with the older version of this camera (IS750) but we gave it to a relative when we upgraded to this one. We're going to try an Olympus Stylus Tough series camera this time and see how it performs.
