Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon Pixma MP210 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2175B002)

Customer Review: Excellent bargain!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a ridiculously good deal. You get a printer, scanner, and copier, all for a very good price. I've had the MP210 for only two days, but I have used it a lot and used all of its features and done quite a bit of printing. So far, so good.

I got my new Dell notebook with WinXP, so setup was a snap. Also, the printer came with both ink cartridges, something other manufacturers do not include. I have been buying Canon printers lately because they have been superior in every way - unlike other brands I had used in the past.

Customer Review: Best Printer I've Ever Owned!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this printer for 4 months and it's Awesome! It prints pictures BETTER than walgreens and rite-aid! Color and Black & White is crisp and clean!
For the reviewers that have commented the pictures could be better perhaps its yor camera! We have a 10mega pixel camera and I can print nice big pictures, hang them on my wall and visitors think they're professional!
I am a chronic printer, I print everything and it has Never jammed or errored. I've printed thousands of pictures and text documents and am just now needing to buy new ink (which btw is cheap on ebay! color & b/w for $35!)
I've owned about 6 printers and this one beats even the more pricier ones!
Installation and setup is EASY, even for beginners.
The ONLY downfall is it doesn't come with a USB cord :(
I am a full time college student and I have a family so between school work and pictures you can't buy a better printer!

Customer Review: Works great - once you get it to work
Summary: 3 Stars

My old computer died, so I had to get a new one. Which of course means Vista. I couldn't get my old printer to work with the new computer, so I bought this one - "100% Vista compatible", or so I was told. Well, it didn't compat very well. I used the installation disk and went through the normal procedure. Everything went well until it told me to connect the USB cable and turn the printer on. After doing so, it sat there for a few minutes and finally told me the device was not responding. I tried this several more times, and also downloaded the latest drivers from Canon's website and tried installing those several times. Same problem. And yes - I did buy a new USB cable in case that was the problem. It made no difference at all.

I eventually ended up taking it to the Geek Squad at a local store, and after charging me about half what I paid for the printer, it now works. Text documents print fast, pictures look great, and the scanner and copier features work just fine. Woo-hoo.

I've had a home PC for over ten years now, and while I'm certainly no computer expert, I am fairly knowledgeable. Let me put it this way, I've installed plenty of printers and other hardware and software before with no problems. If it takes more than my level of technical knowledge to install one of these things, then that's too much to expect. Since the guy who worked on my computer wasn't there when I picked it up (and the people who were there had no idea what was done with it), I don't know if it was a problem with the printer, the software, my computer or Vista. All I know is that I couldn't get this thing to work without paying a professional to do it for me.

So, 5 stars for the printer, 0 stars for difficulty and expense of getting it to work. Averages out to 3 stars.

Customer Review: Worst Piece of Technology I've Ever Had to Deal With
Summary: 1 Stars

We got this printer thinking it would be a good, reliable one. It wasn't to say the least. It worked for two days then the paper kept jamming. After that magically fixed itself, the paper would feed crooked and become jammed again! We tried everything and the booklet wasn't any help. So needless to say, we bought a new printer after only having this for not even 2 weeks. Horrible piece of equipment.

Customer Review: Ink doesn't last
Summary: 4 Stars

It says my ink is more than half gone after just 5 glossy 8x11's and one non-glossy 8x11. Color photos look very nice, but you will pay a lot in ink for them.

I had some extra, much larger, color cartridges from my last printer, but canon was nice enough to redesign the cartridges so they're now uselss.

I would estimate that each glossy 8x11 color photo will cost you TWO DOLLARS in ink. I'm guessing most printers are like this, so if you can deal with that the printer makes very nice prints otherwise. The grayscale photocopies are grainy and have poor reproduction however.

These things are selling for $50 at school so I may as well buy a new printer rather than replace the cartridges for the same cost.
