Customer Review: Portable copier for mobile notaries

I purchased the Canon PC 170 for the work that I do as a Colorado mobile notary and notary signing agent. I use it mostly for doing certified copies.
It's easy to set up and to carry around. Everything folds up into a neat case, and it has a carrying handle. It does essentially what it's supposed to do -- produce copies of documents. And it does it well.
Another use for it is to make photocopies of IDs when I do closings. Borrowers are required to provide the photocopies themselves, but aren't always able. For example, the borrower lives in a remote location and can't get to a copy facility. I normally make photos of the IDs with my digital camera, but that requires the additional step of uploading the photos to my computer, ... etc. With a portable copier, the copies are made in an instant so that I can include them in the loan package.
Replacing the laser cartridge is a snap. The cartridges are refillable, so it isn't necessary to buy a brand new cartridge when it runs low on toner.
Apart from using the Canon PC 170 for certifying copies and making copies of IDs for borrowers, it's a good copier to have in my office for everyday use.

The PC170 has a smart folding compact design, fits on a desktop, and can be carried from office to meeting using the built-in pop-up handle. It requires no warm-up time and has an auto shut-off to save energy. The 50-sheet stack paper tray accepts postcard to letter-size paper and makes 50 copies at a time on full-feed mode at 4ppm.
