Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Canon 77mm UV HazeCustomer Review: 2 year shelf life... Summary: 3 StarsBought the filter 2 years ago, not for UV protection, but more for lens protection. I don't use this particular lens all that often, but on my last trip to Bali, the range in temperatures and humidity caused a haze on the lens that I haven't been able to clean (which I find ironic, since it's called a "haze" filter). For $30, I didn't feel like I got my money's worth, and based on the reviews, I am now switching to Hoya.
Customer Review: Solid and worth the cash Summary: 5 Stars I bought this product to serve as a filter on my EF-S 17-55 lens and to protect it from the aberrations of the environment. It feels more solid the competitive lens filters I use from tiffen. When you think of the value of the investment, I feel you can not go wrong spending a little more for a solid product like this.
With all the dust and and such you need that additional seal and something that can be easily replaced if something goes wrong taking shots.
As used on my Canon 50D, I would make the same choice in 20 20 retrospect. The pictures are great. I have take 2000 photos using this filter to good reviews from friends and family.
Customer Review: Should be Standard Equipment Summary: 5 StarsThis is something that should come standard with all lenses so I always add one to my cart when I purchase. That aside, don't hesitate to add one to your lens purchase, it's well worth it. I realized how important these can be as my heart sank looking at a shattered UV filter on a $600 lens but was relieved to find no damage at all to the lens itself.
Customer Review: Fingerprints and scratches just like the other reviewer! Summary: 3 StarsI read many other reviews before purchasing this product from Amazon. I read a review that talked about how this filter came with fingerprints and scratches and how shocked they were that Amazon had sent out this product in that condition. Personally, I figured that must be a fluke and didn't think much of it when I ordered my own. Well, my package came last week with the exact same problems. I counted 3 small scratches and 1 medium-size on this supposed "NEW" product as well as smudges and fingerprints. What a joke! I don't know what low-quality vendor Amazon is using to get these filters, but you are much better off ordering elsewhere. It makes me sad to say this about Amazon because in general, LOVE this site. In my opinion, Canon should get involved because their product is being sold as new and is clearly not Canon quality upon delivery.
As for the filter, I've had this filter before and think it is great. If I hadn't had it on, I would have scratched my $1200 lens. That alone is reason enough to invest in this.
Customer Review: Packaging didn't survive shipping Summary: 2 StarsThe lens arrived already opened and the lens was loose. Amazingly, there was no damage to the lens, but filters shouldn't arrive bouncing around.
